#3 - Belling-Jam / Fruited Sour
Share
Our third release to celebrate F&L's 10 years of brewing is a fruited sour. 'Belling-Jam' is tart & tangy and full to the brim with fruity flavour. This jammy beer balances sweet with sour, being brewed with a mountain of hand picked damson and plums.

This beer showcases two things we are passionate about, collaboration and local, foraged ingredients. Like most breweries, we are no strangers to collaboration. Breweries across the country, the world even, frequently collaborate on beers pooling their experience and areas of expertise to brew new beers. For this beer we've collaborated with Alice from the Northumbrian Pantry who are located just 10 minutes away from our brewery They use fresh local ingredients to create award winning jams, jellies and chutneys. Alice and her team are as passionate about the provenance and quality of ingredients as we are. The fruits used in this beer are all foraged close to home, some growing just outside the door of the converted barn kitchen and carefully prepared to maximise flavour and fruitiness!

If you are familiar with our beers you'll know that we are passionate about using local ingredients. This means we can pick the freshest and best quality ingredients for the beers we're brewing and also links these beers into the local landscape, they are a true taste of Northumberland, a reflection of the growing season. Some years the fruits are sweet and juicy, sometimes tangy, it all depends on sunlight hours, temperature and rainfall in the months leading up to fruiting. This is what winemakers call 'terroir';
Noun: terroir
- the complete natural environment in which a particular wine is produced, including factors such as the soil, topography, and climate.
- the characteristic taste and flavour imparted to a wine by the environment in which it is produced.
